Happy Bhai Beej/ Bhai Dooj !!!

 

Indian culture has two festivals, which celebrate the beautiful bond between brothers and sisters. The first is Raksha Bandhan and the second is Bhaiya Dooj. While Raksha Bandhan is an affirmation of a brother’s protection of his sister, Bhai Dooj is an affirmation of a sister’s protection of her brother’s well being.

Bhai means brother and ‘Dooj’ means ‘second’. The festival is so named because Bhai Dooj falls on the second day after Diwali. Though this day is celebrated in various ways in different parts of India, it essentially entails sisters applying a tilak of roli (vermilion), kesar (saffron) and rice on their brother’s forehead as a mark of their love and protection. They also pray for his prosperity, well being and good luck.

In Uttar Pradesh, it is celebrated by giving narial (dry coconut) and sweets to brothers. The dried coconuts are dotted with roli, and batashas (a kind of sweet) are placed in the centre. There is one narial for each brother. The story of Bhai Dooj is narrated as the sister applies a tilak of roli and rice to her brother’s forehead. An aarti is then performed for the brother.

In Bengal, this occasion is called Bhai fota. Sisters fast all morning till the ritual is completed. The tilak is made of ghee, sandalwood paste and kaajal. Diyas and incense sticks are an integral part of the ceremony. An aarti is also performed. The elder of the brother and sister gives the younger one rice and durba, a type of grass. Rice is a symbol of plenty and the evergreen durba is symbolic of longevity. Kheer and coconut laddoos are a must-eat.

In Bihar, believe it or not, sisters start the occasion by heaping the choicest of curses on their brothers! Having done that, they prick their own tongues as punishment, with a thorny, wild fruit and ask for their brothers’ forgiveness for the curses, and also for past mistakes. They then bless them and pray for their welfare. The brothers swallow a few grains of bajri with water, before tasting yummy sweets from their sisters’ hands.

Bhai Dooj, in all its colors and forms, is a time of bonding for brothers and sisters. Even if a sister is unable to personally bless her brother, the tilak can be sent by post on her behalf.

Dharna: Make your intellect and thoughts so pure and clean that you can imbibe shrimat accurately and thereby glorify the Father’s name. Those who do not follow shrimat cannot inculcate. Make your stage unshakeable and immovable and one of great intoxication. Keep your face constantly cheerful.

Service: A kumari is someone who inspires others to claim their inheritance for 21 births from the Father. Become true servers by being mastersuns of knowledge and by giving everyone the light and might of knowledge. Reveal the Father by making your stage such that your face is constantly cheerful, that you are unshakeable and immovable and you remain stable and intoxicated.Such clever children with a constant stage are able to give everyone the Father’s introduction accurately. Remain in this pure pride of knowledge and reveal the Father.

Prove who the God of the Gita is and give everyone the true introduction of the Father. You have to prove clearly, using the picture of the cycle, that the Parlokik Supreme Father, the Supreme Soul, the Ocean of Knowledge, is the One who spoke the Gita. You also have to explain at the exhibitions that Krishna is not the God of the Gita; it is the Supreme Father, the Supreme Soul. Create a cartoon in such a clever way that it proves who spoke the Gita.

Question: Which stage of you children will show (reveal) the Father?

Answer: When your stage is such that your face is constantly cheerful, that you are unshakeable and immovable and you remain stable and intoxicated, you will then be able to reveal the Father. Such clever children with a constant stage are able to give everyone the Father’s introduction accurately.

A divine intellect refers to the power of the intellect and it is with this power of the intellect that you are able to catch all powers from the Father and become a master almighty authority (one with all powers). You have the power of a divine intellect which enables you to attain God. With a divine intellect you can experience God’s pure touching in every action and experience success. With the power of a divine intellect, you can defeat Maya when she attacks you.
