Conclusion & Resolution
A 4-day Media Conference &
Exhibition-2012 on “Restoring Golden Era: Role of Media” was organized by the
Media Wing of Rajyoga Education & Research Foundation and Prajapita Brahma
Kumaris Iswariya Vishwa Vidyalaya at latter’s Shantivan Complex, Abu Road, Rajasthan
from 21st to 24th September, 2012 Over 1800 journalists, media professionals
and academicians representing print, electronic, film, cyber and promotional
media from all over India & Nepal attended this Mega Media Meet. Deliberating
through five open sessions, five parallel sessions and after undergoing inner
empowerment experiences in two insight sessions and three rajyoga meditation sessions,
the conference delegates and dignitaries arrived at the following conclusions
and resolution.
1: Practice
and Promotion of Positive & Value Based Journalism in academic study curriculum
as well as in Mass Media professions including social and promotional media, are
the need of the hour to arrest the steep decline in quality & character of
media values and contents.
2: There
is an urgent need for media content re-orientation and up gradation with more inputs
of soft news, literary, cultural, moral, ethical and spiritual issues for
building better and brighter individual and national character and culture.
3: For
that, regular experiential training and orientation of media professionals,
academicians and students on subjects pertaining to India’s ancient spiritual
wisdom, universal values, rajyoga-meditation, simple, positive and healthy life
style need to be undertaken under the initiative of the Brahma Kumaris
institution and with the active cooperation and participation of like minded
media organistations associations, institutes and professionals.
4: Practice
of value based self regulation in print, electronic, film cyber and social
media must be the mantra for media professionals today for avoiding harsh
governmental restrictions in future.
5: Media
professionals including media owners and content controllers need to make a paradigm
shift in their basic intent , purpose and priority from, narrow to broad,
material to moral, commercial to social and from sensual and spiritual for
balanced blending of their commercial interests with social responsibility and
of their individual growth with national development.
6: Media
persons need to spare a few minutes a day for practice and experiencing the
deeper dimensions of rajyoga meditation as being taught in Brahma Kumaris
institution to sharpen their soft intuitive, creative and adaptive skills so as
to achieve excellence in their profession and to make constructive
contributions towards society.
7: Media
Professionals need to make some degree of self-introspection and self analysis to
invoke inner conscience, inner voice, divinity and determination within, to
discharge professional duties and social obligation with the zeal and spirit of
mission.
8: There
is the need to carry out country-wide values based media compaign at regular intervals
especially under the auspices of Brahma Kumari institution’s Media Wing,
Society of Media Initiative for Values, Global Forum for Public Relations etc.
primarly at grassroot district level to create and spread awareness and
sensitize rural and language press on the efficacy of value orientation of
media profession in social transformation and national reconstruction.
